The cooler water and high skys bring mature grouper all the way into Tampa Bay. The bay area bridges and artificial reefs allow easy access to these tasty trophies. Because of the lack of bait schools any offering of shrimp, squid, or cut fish ganders attention. Offshore some nice size flounder can be found on the nearshore reefs and the tripletail start to show around the crab bouys. Don't forget a jacket for the cool February mornings.
The weather this time of year is generally cool with clear skys and lots of sunshine. Winds vary from day to day but are reasonable most days. Bring a light jacket for the early hours of the day ar an occasional cloud.
